With summer kicking into high gear, we decided to try something different: we’re recommending 10 songs about money to help you get started adding a little extra financial spice to your party playlist.
Why? We know from talking to you all that finance leaders’ jobs are hard and getting harder. But we also know music can help ease life’s tensions. Consider Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, a man who knows a thing or two about financial pressure: by his own account, he’s a longtime Grateful Dead fan, according to a Forbes report.
Some caveats about the list are in order. It’s decidedly unscientific and tilted toward decades-old tunes. And there are many more songs about money out there. We hope you’ll email any tunes that you think we should include in the future.
Additionally, they’re not all upbeat. Indeed, many are a reminder of both the risks and rewards of money. We just hope that you take this offering as a reminder of the quietly extraordinary role you have. Because, as the song goes, “money makes the world go round.” And you’re behind it.
